Virtual or On-line Curriculum

This section of the website, is being updated, stay tuned for addition . Thank You.

When the Florida Virtual School (FLVS) was created, in 2002, for "on-line and distance learning education", only 50% of households in America had a personal computer and internet in thier homes. No "smart phones" or ipads because Steve Jobs had not invented them yet, it was in many ways a completely different world. Back then, the curriculum used for virtual learning was modified from materials designed for the classroom, and adapted for this concept of On-line Learning. Those modifications were not always successful, but the scope and quality of on-line curriculum plus the inovations in the learning platforms gives students today a much greater chance of success. The landscape has changed so much in fact that public school students in Florida are required to take at least one core class on-line to earn a standard high school diploma. At the college level it is virtually (pun intended) impossible to earn a degree without taking multiple virtual courses, as some class offerings are only available on-line.

Families of Faith Christian Academy International (FOFCAI) has a full Virtual School Program, that includes every core class and dozens of carreer prep courses for students in grade three through high school. If you are considering a full-time virtual school, you can find out more by following the Virtual Based Programs tab from the home page, or from the dropdown menu under Programs Details.

There are additional virtual curriculum choices where a student can take all of his/her classes, or just one. Most major publishers, are adding the virtual delivery options to much of the curriculum that is aleady available, so if there is a publisher you already are happy with, but want to consider a virtual option, be sure an go to that publishers website to see if it has become an option. The number of virtual programs is growing at a tremendous rate, so at this point only a few of them have been reviewed for use by FOFCAI students.
